Pelikan Nib Interchangeability Chart

Beginning with its first fountain pens in 1929, Pelikan has featured interchangeable nib units. Initially, nib interchangeability was not intended for the customer; rather, it was to make dealers’ lives easier by allowing them to offer a variety of nib styles without having to stock a complete pen for each style. When a customer chose a pen, the dealer would install the desired nib unit into it for the customer. We follow that same practise today, however, many users want to interchange their own nib. This page provides a reference to nib interchangeability in Souverän and Tradition models (M-series fountain pens).

For instructions on how to change nibs please see: Removing and Installing Interchangeable Nibs

Some — but not all — models’ nibs can fit into other models. This chart lays out which nibs fit which pens. Some models’ nibs will fit into the Pelikan 140 and 400-series pens from the 1950s onward as well; these nibs are so noted in the chart.

Note
The fact that a given nib fits into a given pen should not be taken to imply that the aesthetics of the combination will be pleasing to you.  For example, you can put an M215 nib into an M600, but the nib is slightly smaller than the "correct nib, and the unplated stainless steel may not look attractive next to the M600's gold furniture.

Caution

Caution

Caution The P200 cartridge / converter model, introduced in 2014, uses a nib unit that is unique to that model.  This nib unit will fit mechnically into any pen that accepts M200 nibs, but it will prevent the piston from working properly.  M-series nib units that will fit the M200 will also fit the P200, but they will not work properly in the P200 because thet lack the piercing tube that projects from the distal end of the P200's feed.

Notes:
  1. This nib also fits vintage 400, 400N, and 400NN pens and the old-style (pre-1995) M600. This nib does not fit M1xx (M100, MC120, M150). It will screw into these pens, but it is longer and is likely to collide with the end of the inner cap when you cap the pen.

  2. This nib also fits vintage 400, 400N, and 400NN pens and the old-style (pre-1995) M600.

  3. This nib does not fit M2xx, M4xx, etc., or the old-style (pre-1995) M600. It will screw into these pens, but it is longer and is likely to collide with the end of the inner cap when you cap the pen.
